Rent vs buy in New Carrollton -what makes sense?

First post here. I grew up here but left for a while. Poverty rate is 3.2%, which is pretty low. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Should I be concerned? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Denver about 4 years ago. The main reasons were weather and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good internet infrastructure
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are manageable, gas is challenging.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in Uptown for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Strong job market in several industries
- The outdoor recreation scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Property taxes are high

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

My experience has been mostly positive. it was the best decision I ever made. The only thing I'd watch out for is outdoor recreation. Other than that, No regrets on my end..

I've lived in Highland for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The housing market scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Property taxes are high

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Austin about 4 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Four distinct seasons
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Nightlife is limited

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are developing, gas is excellent.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Used to live on the Riverside side, now on the Oak Park side. Completely different vibe. I have mixed feelings honestly.
