I'm single, late 50s, and Rent is about $2,174/month for a decent place. The median home value here is around $509,500, which is pretty steep. Household incomes average around $143,196 in New Cassel. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I love the pace of life here. Compared to San Francisco it's hit or miss.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's exactly what I was looking for. The only thing I'd watch out for is job market. Other than that, Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The outdoor recreation scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Dating scene is rough
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for singles. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Came here for family and stayed because it was the best decision I ever made. The walkability is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a contractor who relocated here from Austin about 7 years ago. The main reasons were family and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are manageable, gas is underrated.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. No regrets on my end..
