Is public transit usable in New Castle?
Rent is about $797/month for a decent place. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Minneapolis about 14 years ago. The main reasons were family and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Lots of new development happening
Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are pricey, gas is average.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. No regrets on my end..

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

- Active local events and festivals

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Riverside. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in real estate. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like Southern.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've been in North for 3 years. Moved from Charlotte for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is pretty good. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.
**Employment:**
government is strong here. engineering is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's not perfect but it works for me. The outdoor scene is solid - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. North schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not very walkable outside downtown. Limited high-paying job options. And public transit can be frustrating.
