OK so I work in finance and Household incomes average around $174,479 in New City. Homes are going for about $618,500 on average. With a population of 34,133, New City is a smaller city. The median home value here is around $618,500, which is pretty steep. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Has anyone dealt with this? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value traffic, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely improving and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Riverside) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Downtown for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Diverse dining options
- The food scene scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for singles. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Austin about 3 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong job market in several industries
Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are established, gas is pretty good.
