Anyone regret moving to New Haven?

Longtime lurker here, I'm originally from Pittsburgh and Average temperature is around 54°F, so expect cold winters. It's a a mid-size city city with about 133K people. Rent is about $1,442/month for a decent place. The median home value here is around $249,000, which is actually reasonable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much.

Public transit is excellent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. the quality of life is solid.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are better than expected, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I work in tech here and it's been a really good experience overall. The job market for my field is better than expected. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
