How is New Haven for outdoor activities?

Born and raised here. Household incomes average around $69,701 in New Haven. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. What neighborhoods would you suggest?

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to Phoenix it's surprisingly good.
