Is public transit usable in New Hyde Park?

Been living here since 2007. Household incomes average around $146,571 in New Hyde Park. Homes are going for about $700,400 on average. The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. What are your go-to spots? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

I've been living here for 1 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The job market is tough compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Greenfield. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in marketing. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

Definitely worth checking out..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are excellent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Fairview for 13 years. Moved from San Diego for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is better than expected. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
healthcare is strong here. manufacturing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is average - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Fairview schools are average. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Summers can be brutally hot. Winters are long and cold. And school system can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 9/10. It's not for everyone but it works for us.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Weather-wise, the summers are improving and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Atlanta about 4 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are growing, gas is better than expected.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Hope this helps!.

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 13 years here, that's my honest assessment.
