Been meaning to ask this. You can expect to pay around $878 for rent here. The median home value here is around $150,300, which is actually reasonable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. What are your go-to spots?

Public transit is hit or miss here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Atlanta about 2 years ago. The main reasons were work and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong job market in several industries
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Chain restaurants dominate
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are affordable, gas is challenging.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. No regrets on my end..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is traffic. it was the best decision I ever made. Worth doing your research before committing.

I'm a project manager who relocated here from Miami about 12 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Winters are long and cold
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are developing, gas is excellent.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want food scene, then yeah this place is great. But if healthcare matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a project manager, 30, moved here 7 years ago from LA. I've lived in Midtown and Fairview, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Strong job market in several industries
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Property taxes are high
3. The cultural scene situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Midtown: Great for young professionals. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- Fairview: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from LA, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $80K-$80K here.
**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are pricey, gas is excellent.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it's exactly what I was looking for. Compared to San Francisco it's improving.
