Hello, Household incomes average around $49,644 in New Kensington. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Would love some local perspective. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The weather takes some getting used to.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 14 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is better than expected.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

I've been here 9 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is decent.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a real estate agent, 27, moved here 2 years ago from Minneapolis. I've lived in Greenfield and Midtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Good schools in most areas
3. Lots of new development happening
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Chain restaurants dominate
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The nightlife situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Greenfield: Great for retirees. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Midtown: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Minneapolis, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $100K-$80K here.
**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Bought a house here in 2023 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone about the same since then.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Meadowbrook. It's excellent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in tech. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Korean.
No regrets on my end..

As someone who grew up here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. A lot has changed in the past few years though. weather used to be much stable but now it's hit or miss.
