Cost of living reality check -New Kingman-Butler

Just moved here 5 months ago and You can expect to pay around $936 for rent here. Household incomes average around $42,604 in New Kingman-Butler. The unemployment rate is 1.6%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $936/month for a decent place. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Pros:
- Growing food scene
- Active local events
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Rising rent prices
- High property taxes
- Poor road conditions
Would love some local perspective. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I've lived in Oak Park for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Pittsburgh, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of new development happening
- The outdoor recreation scene is solid

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Property taxes are high

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for couples. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
