Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 12 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Dating scene is rough
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are stable, gas is excellent.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Weather-wise, the summers are tough and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

Came here for retirement and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The job market is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
