Housing market in New Miami right now

Anyone else feel this way? Just moved here 14 months ago and Crime rate is something to consider -New Miami sits at 229.8 per 100K. Median household income is $50,259, which feels on the lower side for the area. With a population of 2,280, New Miami is a small town. The unemployment rate is 7.9%, which is concerning. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. What are your go-to spots? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value weather, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely hit or miss and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Springfield) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Chicago, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Came here for retirement and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The cost of living is honestly underrated and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. the quality of life is solid. Compared to Raleigh it's hit or miss.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are surprisingly good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.
