Hello, Just moved here 2 months ago and You can expect to pay around $1,722 for rent here. It's a a small town city with about 16,882 people. The median home value here is around $554,800, which is pretty steep. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Anyone in a similar situation? Thanks for reading. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cultural scene, then yeah this place is great. But if cost of living matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I've lived in Midtown for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The dating scene scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Rising rent and home prices
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for retirees. Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've lived in Fairview for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Raleigh, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The cost of living scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Can feel isolated
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. Hope this helps!.

Used to live on the Pine Hills side, now on the Old Town side. Completely different vibe. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in The Heights. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Asian.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Riverside. It's average for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in legal. If you're in consulting you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Asian.
No regrets on my end..

Hot take but I'm still on the fence after all this time. I know a lot of people disagree but after 1 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I work in real estate here and I have mixed feelings honestly. The job market for my field is solid. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
