Hello, Rent is about $1,211/month for a decent place. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. What do you all think?

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's been a really good experience overall. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Sunset for 6 years. Moved from Charlotte for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is underrated. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
government is strong here. tech is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are competitive for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is improving - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Sunset schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Summers can be brutally hot. Winters are long and cold. And pet-friendliness can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 8/10. It's not for everyone but it works for us.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I work in retail here and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The job market for my field is hit or miss. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've lived in Downtown for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Nashville, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Strong sense of community
- The healthcare scene is tough

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Hot take but I have mixed feelings honestly. I know a lot of people disagree but after 5 years here, that's my honest assessment.
