What surprised you most about New Orleans?

Been meaning to ask this. Homes are going for about $296,400 on average. The median home value here is around $296,400, which seems about average. The unemployment rate is 4.8%, which is about average. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Pros:
- Great weather
- Close to nature
- Lots of new development
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Rising rent prices
- Limited nightlife
- Sprawl everywhere
- Limited dining options
Has anyone dealt with this? It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. The suburbs are where most families end up. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to.
