Is public transit usable in New Palestine?

Curious what people think. Median household income is $93,170, which feels pretty solid for the area. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. What do you all think?

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Minneapolis about 4 years ago. The main reasons were work and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Affordable housing options
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are wild, gas is better than expected.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Definitely worth checking out..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it was the best decision I ever made. Internet is better than expected in most areas.

I've lived in Oak Park for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Four distinct seasons
- Affordable housing options
- The dating scene scene is tough

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for retirees. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely improving and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (The Heights) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want weather, then yeah this place is great. But if food scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Came here for family and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The community vibe is honestly excellent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I love the pace of life here. Compared to Houston it's surprisingly good.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is public transit. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Worth doing your research before committing.
