First post here. I'm a college student here and The median home value here is around $173,100, which is actually reasonable. You can expect to pay around $1,066 for rent here. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. What are your go-to spots? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a contractor who relocated here from Charlotte about 7 years ago. The main reasons were school and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good schools in most areas
- Decent public transit for the size
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited high-paying job options
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are reasonable, gas is average.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Definitely worth checking out..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Fairview. It's excellent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in tech. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Indian.
No regrets on my end..

Hot take but I genuinely enjoy living here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 1 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is traffic. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Worth doing your research before committing.
