Is New Philadelphia a good place to live?

Curious what people think. You can expect to pay around $866 for rent here. Homes are going for about $164,600 on average. Median household income is $60,932, which feels about average for the area. The unemployment rate is 2.3%, which is pretty low. Poverty rate is 12.7%, which is around average. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Pros:
- Good schools
- Diverse community
- Low taxes
- Strong sense of community

Cons:
- Not very walkable
- Limited dining options
- Boring for young people
- Mosquitoes and humidity
- Limited cultural events
Looking forward to hearing from you all. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely average and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (West) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Midtown for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size
- The nightlife scene is average

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for singles. No regrets on my end..

Bought a house here in 2024 and it's not perfect but it works for me. Property values have gone about the same since then.
