New Providence quality of life -am I missing something?

First post here. Military spouse here. The unemployment rate is 2.0%, which is pretty low. Homes are going for about $734,300 on average. Rent is about $1,906/month for a decent place. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Good schools
- Strong sense of community

Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Limited nightlife
- High property taxes
Is this normal for New Providence? Appreciate any input. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 1 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Definitely worth checking out..
