Career opportunities in New Roads, LA

Longtime lurker here, Average temperature is around 69--F, so the weather is moderate. With a population of 4,457, New Roads is a small town. The city has invested a lot in new development. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Would love some local perspective.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Pine Hills. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in finance. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Used to live on the The Heights side, now on the Oak Park side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

My experience has been mostly positive. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The only thing I'd watch out for is dating scene. Other than that, Good luck with whatever you decide..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 3 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Lakewood side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..
