First post here. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Am I overthinking this?

As someone who grew up here, it was the best decision I ever made. A lot has changed in the past few years though. traffic used to be much competitive but now it's surprisingly good.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I love the pace of life here. Internet is average in most areas.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Greenfield for 8 years. Moved from Boston for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.
**Employment:**
tech is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I genuinely enjoy living here. The outdoor scene is average - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Greenfield schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Nightlife is limited. Can feel isolated. And housing market can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 7/10. Definitely worth checking out.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely tough and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Sunset) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely solid and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Sunset) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Raleigh about 13 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good healthcare facilities
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are established, gas is challenging.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a data analyst who relocated here from New York about 10 years ago. The main reasons were school and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Lots of new development happening
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are competitive, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.
I've been here 6 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is average.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Lakewood side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Downtown. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Italian.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cost of living, then yeah this place is great. But if cost of living matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
