Why I chose New Smyrna Beach over bigger cities

Alright, We have two kids and Homes are going for about $365,900 on average. Rent is about $1,638/month for a decent place. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. What would you do? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I have mixed feelings honestly. Internet is improving in most areas.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 7 years ago. The main reasons were school and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Winters are long and cold

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are stable, gas is improving.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Moved here from LA about 12 years ago. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Still getting used to weather but Definitely worth checking out..
