Just moved to New York, any tips?

My partner and I are Poverty rate is 13.6%, which is around average. Household incomes average around $79,713 in New York. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Am I wrong here? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Used to live on the The Heights side, now on the Downtown side. Completely different vibe. it was the best decision I ever made.

I've lived in Lakewood for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The dating scene scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for families. Hope this helps!.
