Is public transit usable in Newark?

Hey folks, My family moved here when I was a kid. Crime rate is something to consider -Newark sits at 173.7 per 100K. It's a a smaller city city with about 47,145 people. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Miami about 10 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Nightlife is limited

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are developing, gas is improving.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Hope this helps!.
