OK so My partner and I are The median home value here is around $337,800, which seems about average. You can expect to pay around $1,330 for rent here. Rent is about $1,330/month for a decent place. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. TIA! Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up.

My experience has been mostly positive. I have mixed feelings honestly. The only thing I'd watch out for is safety. Other than that, Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is outdoor recreation. it's exactly what I was looking for. Worth doing your research before committing.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.
I've been here 1 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into running, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

Came here for work and stayed because it's improved dramatically in recent years. The weather is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in Springfield area are better than expected. Kids love it here.

I've lived in Springfield for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Good airport with direct flights
- The school system scene is solid
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Road conditions need improvement
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for young professionals. Definitely worth checking out..

Used to live on the Maple Ridge side, now on the North side. Completely different vibe. I'm still on the fence after all this time.
