OK so Born and raised here. The median home value here is around $174,100, which is actually reasonable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

I've lived in Lakewood for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Good internet infrastructure
- The housing market scene is decent
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Rising rent and home prices
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for young professionals. Definitely worth checking out..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.
I've been here 7 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Springfield side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is outdoor recreation. I love the pace of life here. Worth doing your research before committing.
