Newark in the winter -how bad?

Alright, Household incomes average around $58,920 in Newark. Crime rate is something to consider -Newark sits at 296.0 per 100K. With a population of 50,393, Newark is a smaller city. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Thoughts? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value housing market, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely hit or miss and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Springfield) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
