Hello, My partner and I are You can expect to pay around $1,144 for rent here. Average temperature is around 65--F, so the weather is moderate. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Thoughts? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in Highland area are average. Kids love it here.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's been a really good experience overall. Internet is decent in most areas.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.
I've been here 4 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Hope this helps!.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Old Town. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in retail. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Southern.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..
