Anyone else feel this way? I'm a 39-year-old data analyst and Household incomes average around $41,934 in Newaygo. Poverty rate is 15.4%, which is higher than I expected. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Anyone in a similar situation? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Used to live on the Pine Hills side, now on the East side. Completely different vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The pet-friendliness is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Used to live on the Maple Ridge side, now on the Springfield side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

I work in hospitality here and the quality of life is solid. The job market for my field is challenging. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Pine Hills. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in legal you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like craft beer.
Hope this helps!.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a HR manager, 31, moved here 10 years ago from Seattle. I've lived in Sunset and North, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Not a lot of cultural diversity
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The cultural scene situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Sunset: Great for retirees. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- North: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Seattle, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $70K-$70K here.
**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
