Longtime lurker here, It's a a smaller city city with about 25,622 people. Average temperature is around 53--F, so expect cold winters. Homes are going for about $453,700 on average. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The city has invested a lot in new development. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. What would you do? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I've been living here for 12 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The dating scene is decent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've lived in Fairview for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- The public transit scene is average

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for couples. Hope this helps!.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.

I've been here 5 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

Used to live on the North side, now on the Meadowbrook side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Bought a house here in 2023 and it's exactly what I was looking for. Property values have gone up significantly since then.
