Cost of living reality check -Newberg

Hey folks, We have two kids and Average temperature is around 53--F, so expect cold winters. With a population of 25,622, Newberg is a smaller city. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Highland. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in government. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Used to live on the Pine Hills side, now on the West side. Completely different vibe. it's not perfect but it works for me.
