Is Newberg worth moving to in 2026?

Alright, I'm single, late 40s, and It's a a smaller city city with about 25,622 people. Crime rate is something to consider -Newberg sits at 31.5 per 100K. Average temperature is around 53--F, so expect cold winters. Household incomes average around $91,389 in Newberg. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Anyone in a similar situation? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value safety, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely solid and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Fairview) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Portland, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Dating scene is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Bought a house here in 2015 and the quality of life is solid. Property values have gone about the same since then.

I've lived in Springfield for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Active local events and festivals
- The safety scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Nightlife is limited

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for couples. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've been living here for 12 years and I'd say it exceeded my expectations. The cost of living is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall Happy to answer more specific questions..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in The Heights for 15 years. Moved from Dallas for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is pretty good. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
healthcare is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it exceeded my expectations. The outdoor scene is improving - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. The Heights schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Winters are long and cold. And community vibe can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 6/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I'm a physical therapist and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. The community is hit or miss and there's always something going on.
