Curious what people think. Just moved here 7 months ago and Median household income is $100,513, which feels pretty solid for the area. With a population of 7,608, Newberry is a small town. The median home value here is around $268,800, which seems about average. The weather takes some getting used to. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Thoughts? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The suburbs are where most families end up. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The city has invested a lot in new development. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are surprisingly good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I work in finance here and I have mixed feelings honestly. The job market for my field is excellent. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Came here for weather and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The dating scene is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I have mixed feelings honestly. Internet is decent in most areas.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Internet is challenging in most areas.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Pine Hills. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in finance. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Asian.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Meadowbrook. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in finance. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Boston about 4 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Four distinct seasons
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are growing, gas is tough.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Good luck with whatever you decide..
