Top 5 things I love about Newberry

Hey, Rent is about $1,047/month for a decent place. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Would love some local perspective. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Moved here from San Diego about 7 years ago. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Still getting used to community vibe but It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely improving and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Riverside) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Portland, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in Springfield area are underrated. Kids love it here.
