How is Newberry for outdoor activities?

Hey folks, My family moved here when I was a kid. The unemployment rate is 4.3%, which is about average. Homes are going for about $124,600 on average. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 13 years ago. The main reasons were family and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are established, gas is tough.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Hope this helps!.

As someone who grew up here, I have mixed feelings honestly. A lot has changed in the past few years though. walkability used to be much wild but now it's average.
