I'm a college student here and Household incomes average around $51,006 in Newburgh. The food scene here is surprisingly good. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a pharmacist, 43, moved here 5 years ago from Charlotte. I've lived in Lakewood and Meadowbrook, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Not very walkable outside downtown
3. The healthcare situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Lakewood: Great for families. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- Meadowbrook: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Charlotte, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $60K-$90K here.
**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Sunset. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in real estate. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like sushi.
Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in Greenfield for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Decent public transit for the size
- The healthcare scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited shopping options
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. Definitely worth checking out..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Fairview. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Korean.
Feel free to reach out with questions..

Hot take but it exceeded my expectations. I know a lot of people disagree but after 4 years here, that's my honest assessment.
