Anyone else feel this way? Rent is about $1,020/month for a decent place. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Any advice would be great. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are competitive. You get used to it after the first year.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Eastside. It's average for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in education. If you're in legal you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Southern.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

My experience has been mostly positive. the quality of life is solid. The only thing I'd watch out for is cost of living. Other than that, No regrets on my end..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. the quality of life is solid. Compared to Tampa it's excellent.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Highland. It's excellent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Asian.
