Biggest downsides of living in Newcastle?

Hey everyone, I work in media and With a population of 12,945, Newcastle is a small town. The median home value here is around $1,128,200, which is pretty steep. Crime rate is something to consider -Newcastle sits at 83.2 per 100K. Household incomes average around $162,646 in Newcastle. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in North. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
