Starting a business in Newnan?

Been living here since 2007. Median household income is $80,299, which feels pretty solid for the area. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Am I overthinking this? Thanks!

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to Miami it's surprisingly good.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 9 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely underrated and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (West) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Meadowbrook. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in consulting. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value public transit, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely average and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Sunset) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from New York, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Seattle about 7 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Active local events and festivals
- Four distinct seasons
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are competitive, gas is better than expected.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Good luck with whatever you decide..
