Rent vs buy in Newport East -what makes sense?

First post here. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Thanks!

I've lived in Springfield for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Pittsburgh, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Four distinct seasons
- The nightlife scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for singles. Definitely worth checking out..

Used to live on the West side, now on the Springfield side. Completely different vibe. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely solid and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Lakewood) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are hit or miss, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is healthcare. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Worth doing your research before committing.

We moved here with our family and I love the pace of life here. Schools in Maple Ridge area are challenging. Kids love it here.

I work in hospitality here and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The job market for my field is underrated. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
