Moving to Newport News with kids — good idea?

I'm a remote worker and With a population of 185K, Newport News is a mid-size city. You can expect to pay around $1,285 for rent here. The weather takes some getting used to. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Am I overthinking this? Thanks!

Bought a house here in 2018 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want school system, then yeah this place is great. But if food scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
