The good and bad of living in Newport News

First post here. I relocated for work and Poverty rate is 11.6%, which is around average. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Anyone in a similar situation? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

My experience has been mostly positive. it exceeded my expectations. The only thing I'd watch out for is nightlife. Other than that, It's not for everyone but it works for us..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
