How much do you pay for rent in Newport?

Anyone else feel this way? You can expect to pay around $1,153 for rent here. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

I've lived in Downtown for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good schools in most areas
- The cost of living scene is improving

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited high-paying job options

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for retirees. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Bought a house here in 2016 and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Compared to Chicago it's surprisingly good.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Sunset for 10 years. Moved from Pittsburgh for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
tech is strong here. real estate is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is better than expected - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Sunset schools are average. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Urban sprawl is real. Homeless population growing downtown. And job market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 7/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
