Alright, Average temperature is around 51--F, so expect cold winters. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

My experience has been mostly positive. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The only thing I'd watch out for is public transit. Other than that, Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in Riverside area are better than expected. Kids love it here.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.
I've been here 2 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is average.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..
