Been meaning to ask this. Homes are going for about $669,500 on average. Rent is about $1,612/month for a decent place. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Greenfield. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in real estate. If you're in education you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Korean.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a contractor who relocated here from Atlanta about 11 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Affordable housing options
- Good airport with direct flights
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are stable, gas is pretty good.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Public transit is surprisingly good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's improved dramatically in recent years.
