Hey folks, I relocated for work and Median household income is $40,096, which feels on the lower side for the area. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Bought a house here in 2017 and it exceeded my expectations. Property values have gone about the same since then.

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The traffic scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for retirees. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want dating scene, then yeah this place is great. But if weather matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Downtown. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in real estate. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like seafood.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value traffic, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely better than expected and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
