What's it really like living in Newton?

Hey, Crime rate is something to consider -Newton sits at 486.7 per 100K. Median household income is $67,015, which feels about average for the area. Rent is about $903/month for a decent place. The median home value here is around $151,800, which is actually reasonable. The unemployment rate is 3.7%, which is pretty low. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Pros:
- Good job market
- Diverse community
- Low taxes
- Lots of new development

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Limited public transit
- Not very walkable
- Poor road conditions
- Mosquitoes and humidity
Is this normal for Newton? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

As someone who grew up here, it was the best decision I ever made. A lot has changed in the past few years though. safety used to be much pricey but now it's tough.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 15 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good internet infrastructure
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are manageable, gas is decent.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Feel free to reach out with questions..
