Hey, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Crime rate is something to consider -Newton sits at 55.3 per 100K. Homes are going for about $1,202,500 on average. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want pet-friendliness, then yeah this place is great. But if healthcare matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in The Heights. It's excellent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in government. If you're in consulting you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a writer who relocated here from San Francisco about 2 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are affordable, gas is underrated.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
