Best companies to work for in Niagara Falls?

Hi all, I work in construction and It's a a smaller city city with about 48,198 people. Median household income is $48,535, which feels on the lower side for the area. Homes are going for about $104,400 on average. Average temperature is around 49--F, so expect cold winters. Rent is about $784/month for a decent place. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Would love some local perspective. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Public transit is underrated here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it was the best decision I ever made.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Uptown. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like seafood.

Definitely worth checking out..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 8 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into running, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

No regrets on my end..

Weather-wise, the summers are average and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Compared to Houston it's underrated.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a real estate agent, 24, moved here 5 years ago from Houston. I've lived in Old Town and Meadowbrook, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Property taxes are high
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The pet-friendliness situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Old Town: Great for retirees. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Meadowbrook: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Houston, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $80K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've lived in North for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good internet infrastructure
- The community vibe scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Road conditions need improvement

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for retirees. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
