Is Niagara Falls a good place to live?

So, My partner and I are Average temperature is around 49--F, so expect cold winters. It's a a smaller city city with about 48,198 people. Crime rate is something to consider -Niagara Falls sits at 899.8 per 100K. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. Any advice would be great. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 4 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in East. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in marketing. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

Hope this helps!.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is housing market. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Worth doing your research before committing.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely excellent and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Bought a house here in 2019 and it's not perfect but it works for me. Property values have gone up a bit since then.
